Reheat Furnace Practices has three objectives: separating the furnace engineering and operating practices, defining the functions of the furnace to produce a higher surface quality on plates or coils, and explaining the connection with rolled-in scale. Accomplishing these goals will allow hot mill operators to concentrate their efforts on the critical aspects of reheat furnace practices to eliminate some types of rolled-in scale, reduce scale growth to minimize costs, and enhance the surface and microstructural quality produced on hot strip and plate mills.
